Deleting WhatsApp Messages Could Become Illegal In India..

Indian government has formulated a new policy to ensure that its law enforcement agencies have easy access to encrypted information. But with this, your sense of privacy and security will remain at stake.
Here are some implications for citizens and companies if the policy is implemented in its current form ...

According to the draft, citizens may use encryption technology for storage and communication. However, encryption algorithms and key sizes will be prescribed by the government through Notification from time to time. This means that the government will determine the encryption standards for all and entities like Google and WhatsApp will have to follow the encryption standards prescribed by the Indian government.

What's bizarre is that the draft lists specific guidelines for all citizens who use encryption services including instructions that individuals should store in plain text versions of communication for 90 days. So this may imply that you'll have to store your WhatsApp messages for 90 days or face action in case asked to reproduce.

What's appalling is that the government expects all citizens to be aware of encrypted communication and the way to store messages in plain text securely. A large number of
users may in fact not even know that WhatsApp and iMessage use encryption.

As per the draft, "all citizens including personnel of Government / Business (G/B) performing non-official / personal functions, are required to store the plaintexts of the corresponding encrypted information for 90 days from the date of transaction and provide the verifiable Plain Text to Law and Enforcement Agencies as and when required as per the provision of the laws of the country."

The draft also proposes similar guidelines for B2B or enterprise users where data exchange is even more critical and for B2C communication. "On demand, the user shall be able to reproduce the same Plain text and encrypted text pairs using the software / hardware used to produce the encrypted text from the given plain text. Such plain text information shall be stored by the user/organisation/agency for 90 days from the date of transaction and made available to Law Enforcement Agencies as and when demanded in line with the provisions of the laws of the country," it adds. This implies that e-commerce websites will have to keep a plain-text copy of user details leaving their information vulnerable to hackers.

The policy also mentions that Service Providers located within and outside India, using encryption technology for providing any type of services in India must enter into an agreement with the government for providing such services in India. The government will designate an appropriate agency for entering into such an agreement with the service provider located within and outside India. This means WhatsApp, Apple and Google will have to sign agreements with the Indian government to provide services in the country as they use encryption technology. This will make the process more bureaucratic and create roadblocks for app providers. In its current form the policy could have a detrimental effect on the privacy of citizens and expose sensitive data to potential abuse.

"All vendors of encryption products shall register their products with the designated agency of the government. While seeking registration, the vendors shall submit working copies of the encryption software / hardware to the Government along with professional quality documentation, test suites and execution platform environments. The vendors shall work with the designated Government Agencies in security evaluation of their encryption products," the draft adds.

However, mass use products like SSL/TLS that are used for financial transactions are exempted from registration. Users in India are allowed to use only the products registered in India though. So using a service not registered with the government will be illegal. "Government reserves the right to take appropriate action as per Law of the country for any violation of this Policy," the draft categorically states.

The document has been drafted by an expert group set up under the Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) which comes under the union ministry of communications and information technology. All citizens can send their comments on the draft policy to akrishnan@deity.gov.in by October 16 and give suggestions.

Best way to use your old smartphone`s.

Bought a new Smartphone?  Don`t give up your old smartphone for a penny. Here we show some different ways so that you can use your old smartphone at your home, office and etc.

1. WiFi Router.......

Using Smartphone you might be familiar with the feature called " HotSpot" and may be you have used it many times, you can easily use an old phone as a portable router. Plug in a 3G and now 4G LTE SIM card and choose a data plan with good data limit.
Make sure to use the strong password for a security or else anyone can access your data from hotspot

2. Turn it into Security Camera or a Baby monitor.

There are number of free apps available that can convert your smartphone into a wireless security camera. Try IP Webcam for Android or iVigilo SmartCam for iOS - these apps use your phone`s camera to stream live video that can be viewed in any browser, any video player that supports streaming or on another smartphone/tablet
You only need to setup the smartphone in place, plug in the charger, install the app and make sure that it stays connected to your WiFi network. .

3. Turn it into Testing ground.

Android means Open world of an operating systems and developers are loving it and just because of an openness Android is ruling the world with more than 80% users are using the Google owned OS.
And People`s are loving customization and in android you might be familiar with Root access and Flashing ROM`s and yes you can use it as Test ground for testing new ROM`s available for your smartphone`s just like me I am using my Moto E for testing new ROM`s and new apps available in the market.

4. Only for kids device.

Yes no one love to give there new and expensive phones to the kids for playing games and on the other hand we don`t want to break the kid`s heart. So rather than saying no you can give him your old smartphone with some games installed in it.
Or simply make it as an educational device for your kid`s with tons of educational apps present in playstore for free or just a $ maybe.

 5. Use it as a GPS Navigator.

Google Maps and navigation is free on every android phone`s and you have probably used it while driving or for getting the direction.
This means that with an old Android phone, you don't need to buy a standalone GPS navigator for the car — just keep your old phone permanently mounted in the car. All you need is a car windscreen or dashboard mount for the phone and a generic micro USB 12V car charger to keep the battery juiced up (you can buy both online for as less as Rs 300 each).

6. Sell it.

Selling might be a good option you can sell it on Ebay, Olx, Quickr and Swappa (Outside India) and the money you get by selling your old smartphone you can use that money to buy some good accessories for your new smartphones.
I hope you all like my blog do share it and join our pages and follow us on Twitter.

OnePlus might launch leather rear cover for OnePlus 2.

After the launch of OnePlus 2, OnePlus was in the news but not for the good reasons for example Slow rollout of an invites, Fake invites from spammers, some bunch of stupids people`s who are selling there invites and last but not a least over Hyped NFC & definitely Fast charging.

But from all the bad news there is some great news coming from OnePlus first Carl Pei announced that they might have an Open sale for OnePlus 2 for an hour, and another news is that in the recent tweet from OnePlus we can indicate that OnePlus might launch leather rear cover for OnePlus 2.

At the present time there are 4 style swap covers available Kevlar, Bamboo, Rosewood and Black apricot. Leather cover will be a good addition and I will definitely buy that cover. In a tweet OnePlus tease that "A bit of welcome luxury" and further they put a question for a user to guess "Something luxurious is coming to OnePlus. What could it be?" Still no official approval are there from OnePlus but let`s hope for the best. Hope they launch it what`s your thought on it guys Do like Our fb page and follow us on Twitter.
